Five US Marines are missing when a helicopter crashes in California

According to initial information, the helicopter departing from Creech Air Force Base near Las Vegas (Nevada) crashed while en route to San Diego (California). It was later found in a forest in California. At the time of the accident, five crew members from Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361 were performing a routine training flight.
The helicopter was later reported to be "too slow", meaning it did not arrive on time and the pilot could not be contacted.
The Marines requested help from the San Diego Sheriff's Department and the Civil Air Patrol.
The sheriff's department said they received a call at 1:50 a.m. on February 7 and sent a helicopter to search, but were unable to reach the area due to storms hitting the area. The department then sent specialized vehicles to move over rough terrain. Rescue efforts are underway.
