Israel does not hide its intention to surround Gaza

Oct 30, 2023

Jerusalem [Israel], October 30: According to Reuters, along with photos of tanks, several images published on October 29 (local time) showed Israeli soldiers waving flags deep inside Gaza.
Fierce fighting
On October 29, the Israeli army announced that it had attacked more than 450 Hamas targets, including combat command centers, guard stations and anti-tank missile launch stations in just 24 hours. Mr. Daniel Hagari, spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), said his country is gradually expanding its ground operations and force scope in the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, Hamas fired mortars at Israeli forces in northern Gaza and fired rockets at Israeli tanks.
Central Israel also suffered intense rocket fire. Sirens have sounded in several major cities. Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, confirmed it was bombing Tel Aviv. After that, this force continued to clash with Israel in northwest Gaza and claimed to have burned two of their opponent's tanks. The government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not comment on this information.
There are also concerns about the conflict spreading beyond Gaza, with the Israeli army and Iran-backed Hezbollah fighting in Lebanon. There have been several rocket or mortar launches from Lebanon into Israeli territory, and the country is returning fire.
Humanitarian aid
The Palestinian Red Crescent said on October 29, 24 trucks carrying food and medicine arrived in Gaza through Egypt's Rafah border gate, bringing the total to date to 118, a small fraction of what is needed. set. This is the largest aid convoy since the Hamas-Israel war broke out. However, humanitarian aid workers said the above supplies still cannot fill the shortage. Thousands of people broke into warehouses to steal flour and basic hygiene products, Reuters reported.
A top leader of Hamas on the same day also called on Egypt to take "decisive" action to accelerate aid to Gaza, according to AFP. Meanwhile, International Criminal Court prosecutor Karim Khan also visited the Rafah border crossing, where he said blocking aid to innocent civilians could constitute a crime and called on Israel to cooperate.
Under pressure, Mr. Elad Goren, head of the unit in charge of civil affairs in Palestine (COGAT) of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, said that Israel will allow a significant increase in aid to Gaza in the coming days and often. Palestinians should go to the "humanitarian zone" in the south of this small territory.
As of the end of October 29, health authorities in the Gaza Strip confirmed that 8,005 people, including 3,324 minors, had died as a result of fighting. The total population in this area before the war was 2.3 million. The media office of the Hamas-run Gaza government said 116 doctors and 35 journalists had been killed since the conflict began.
Palestine is trying to find a solution
The Guardian newspaper on October 30 quoted Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh as saying that after the Hamas-Israel conflict ends, his government will not return to manage Gaza if the parties do not have a comprehensive agreement, in which the West Bank belongs. about the state of Palestine.
"I think what we need is a comprehensive, peaceful vision. The West Bank needs a solution, then linking Gaza to that solution within the framework of two states," Mr. Shtayyeh said in his office in Ramallah City (West Bank).
Palestine also called for an emergency Arab summit, which Mr. Shtayyeh hopes will take place on November 10, to restore unity in establishing an effective Palestinian state
Prime Minister Shtayyeh said that to achieve a lasting peaceful solution, the US government will have to show leadership. He also noted that Joe Biden is the first US President to recently take office without a Middle East peace initiative.
