The President of Moldova accused the Wagner group of plotting a coup

"We have information about the plot [of Prigozhin's group]," Ms. Sandu said. According to the president of Moldova, in 2022 Wagner sought to turn anti-government protests into violent events.
"The situation is very dramatic and we have to protect ourselves," she said.
In February, the female president accused Russia of plotting a coup in Moldova by sparking protest activities.
The Russian Foreign Ministry denied the above accusations, and previously said that Moldova pursued an anti-Russian agenda.
Since Ms. Sandu was elected president in 2020, Moldova has become a candidate to join the European Union.
For a long time, the price of gas purchased from Russia has been a controversial topic between Moldova and Russia. The situation in Moldova's breakaway region of Transdniestria has also led to tensions in relations between Russia and Moldova.
Russia has maintained forces in Transdniestria since the 1990s and the Russian representative of the Transnistria region in March asked Moscow to increase its forces because the security situation in this region is deteriorating.
