"The president and prime minister also discussed increasing the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, including through preparing to open new gateways in the north from this week," the announcement said.

Speaking earlier, White House National Security Advisor John Kirby said Israel had agreed to listen to US concerns before launching the operation in Rafah.
During the discussion, President Biden reaffirmed America's firm commitment to Israel and assessed the ongoing dialogue to reach a ceasefire agreement and release hostages between Israel and Hamas.
The call took place just days after President Biden signed a foreign aid law that included $26 billion in spending for Israel .
In a previous phone call also in April, President Biden told Prime Minister Netanyahu that the overall humanitarian situation in Gaza was unacceptable, and warned Israel of the consequences if no measures were taken. crisis.

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that Secretary of State Blinken will travel to Jordan and Israel later, with a focus on finding a ceasefire in Gaza, releasing hostages and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid.
