UAE, a pioneer in renewable energy: President of Palau

Dubai [UAE], December 1:SurangelWhipps Jr., President of Palau, said the UAE is a trailblazer in the field of renewable energy, especially solar energy.Palau is also interested in this sector, and the UAE's experience in renewable energy makes it possible not to exceed a 1.5-degree Celsius rise in the Earth's temperature and helps reduce carbon emissions, he added."COP28 is garnering great interest from various participating countries and will serve as a significant gathering for climate enthusiasts, reflecting the engagement of people who are keen to change and preserve the planet through making serious steps towards a better future, he further added, stressing that he expects COP28 to be one of the largest COP events," the President of Palau told the Emirates News Agency (WAM)."We look beyond the Paris Agreement and today at COP28 to the principle of commitment and unifying efforts to address climate change," Whipps said, noting that there are many examples of this, such as using electric vehicles, increasing the use of solar energy, or any solution that can be adopted to protect the planet.He then lauded the excellent organisation of the event, highlighting his keenness to boost the cooperation between the UAE and Palau in areas of renewable and clean energy.Source: Emirates News Agency
