President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had signed a decree requiring the Kyiv government and the army's chief of staff to establish a special armed force for UAVs and drones.

Mr. Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine , commented that the establishment of the new force provides "strong impetus" for the military's technological development.

In December 2023, President Zelensky announced that Ukraine would produce 1 million unmanned systems by 2024.
Ukrainian government officials said the country aims to produce tens of thousands of unmanned devices each month.
