Los Angeles [US], January 14: The Los Angeles Fire Department is warning of dangerous weather conditions that could reignite the fires in the US West Coast metropolis.
Dry conditions and fast winds spell a high risk of fire in the greater Los Angeles area, LA County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone said. Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley made it clear that danger has not yet been averted. "We are not in the clear as of yet," she added. "We must not let our guard down."
Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna emphasized that emergency services were continuing to search for missing people in the affected areas. He spoke of a "horrific" task. Luna expects that more bodies will be found in the ruins.
According to the police, there have been 14 arrests in connection with the blazes so far. Suspects have been detained for violating curfews, breaking and entering, vandalism and shoplifting. (DPA)
